TwoNav 2.3: What's new?

Below you will find a list of improvements of the main version of our software 'TwoNav'. In order to purchase or upgrade to this version you only need to get access to the 'TwoNav' section of our website. Most notable changes and improvements are divided into the following agrupations:

   

 

GENERAL NEW FEATURES

Keys manager

Key manager allows you to change the function of each device’s button. In order to change the default assignations enter at ‘Settings > System > Keys’. Each button has a double command: short press and long press. Both of them can be personalized for different usages.
 

Available functions are the same as in tool bar editor (link Settings > display > toolbar), adding next ones:
 

  • Zoom in /Zoom out
  • Hold mode: block device and shutdown screen. Same key to unhold
  • Block
  • Exit
  • Menu

Once you have configured your own commands press OK to apply changes.

 

Status report

User can create a ‘status report’ to help support team when sending any query.

Using ‘Settings > System > Status report’ button, a zip file will be created in Data folder (normally TwoNavData/Data). Attach this file to any ticket you submit to support.compegps.com.

 

Synchronize with Virtual Coach

This command allows you to place the Virtual Coach automatically in your current position. You can apply this function by clicking at button placed at the tool bar.

  

Configuration of sensors

TwoNav will try to activate all ANT+ sensors at start.

 

Tool bar’s default configuration

Tool bar can be restored to its original configuration. You only have to press to return to the original distribution.

 

New slope data fields
 

  • Slope in next kilometer: slope from now in 1 kilometer.
  • Slope to next waypoint: slope from now to the next waypoint.
  • Slope to destination: remaining slope till destination.

 

New data fields added to 'reset all' function

'Stopped time' and 'Moving time' fields are resettable when applying 'reset all' function.

 

New vehicle: boat (TwoNav marine)

Boat mode has been added to the current list of available vehicles, it has specific features devoted to marine activities:

  • Boat mode changes default units to marine usage (nautical mile, knots...).
  • Includes data fields related to marine for data bar and data pages.
  • Automaps: opens marine chart and closes any other maps when boat mode is enabled.
  • Change of skin colour (high contrast presentation).
  • Boat vehicle has its own icons specially designed for marine conditions. Boat pointers can be selected at: ‘Settings > Display > Pointer’. ('Advanced' function must be active)


Note:
TwoNav Delta will be compatible with 'Navionics Gold’ maps (more information about 'Navionics Gold’). 

 

Play attachments from infocurrent and infonext

Attached files can be displayed from ‘Infocurrent’ and 'infonext' bars represented in a clip icon.

 

Beep sounds

When using Sportiva or Sportiva+, you can manage beep sound configurations selecting ‘Status > Volum’. At this section you can enable or disable each sound alarm:

  • Mute: general activation or deactivation of beep sounds.
  • Voice: especially for on-road mode with three different distance levels.

    - 700 m. – short beep.
    - 300 m. – immediately long beep.
    - 50 m. – double long beep

     
  • Alarm: specific navigation alarms for waypoints and tracks can be personalized at ‘Settings > Navigation > Alarms’.
  • Clicks: level of click’s volume.


Note: ‘Wpt alarm’ and ‘speed limit’ sections have been moved to a new section ‘Settings > Navigation > Alarms’, which also contains ‘Tracks’ (set deviation alarm) and ‘Radars’ options.

 

'Next Event' customizable

If you press ‘Next Event’, you will be redirected by default to the main menu of the application. This option can be changed by selecting ’Settings > System > Advanced’ with the user redirecting the function to any of the three proposed commands of TwoNav:

  • Main menu (by default)
  • Data page
  • Tool bar

  

Minimum moving speed

Minimum moving speed is the field which fixes the minimum speed considered movement. Speeds under this value won’t be counted as movements (will be considered as 0 km/h).

Minimum movement speed can be configured at ‘Settings > System > Advanced’ although the user has to remember that this function depends on the selected vehicle (‘Settings > Vehicle’), each vehicle has a different default speed.

 

Velocity made good (VMG)

New data field added: Velocity made good. That’s the right direction’s velocity component of a ship to the following mark. This field has been included at the current list of data fields of TwoNav.

 

Rearrange of ‘Send to’ option

At object’s contextual menu, you can transfer the selected file to another location selecting the option 'Send to...' and choose the destination:

  • 'Dropbox', share and upload your files to www.dropbox.com (only for connectable devices)
  • ‘GPS-View’ publish your tracks to Facebook (only for connectable devices)


Note:
’Send to’ option has been removed from non-connectable devices.

 

Rearrange of alarm section

‘WPT alarm’ and ‘Speed limit’ sections have been moved to a new ‘Settings > Navigation > Alarms’ section, which also contains ‘Tracks’ (set deviation alarm) and ‘Radars’ alarms options.

 

TwoNav’s minimization

At ‘Autonomy’ option, the user is able to configure GPS behaviour when TwoNav application will be disconnected if minimized:
 

  • Always on.
  • Optimized (just leave GPS activated if recording a track).
  • Always off.

  

Prow lines

TwoNav allows you to enable, or disable, prow lines at ‘Settings > Display > Pointer’. Moreover, you can also configure the length of the prow line by setting a defined option:

  • Disabled
  • Pixels (pixels)
  • Real distance (meters)
  • Expected distance in time (minutes): TwoNav will calculate the estimated distance to be covered in that time at current speed.
  • Infinite


Note: These properties depend on the selected vehicle.

 

Customer’s help point

By clicking at ‘Discover > Help’    the user will get access to FAQs and useful information which can help him to solve application doubts. (Just for internet-connected devices: iPhone and Android)

 

 

TRACKS NEW FEATURES

Default alarm when far from track

When the user is getting away from the original track, there is an option to enable a special alarm to warn him.

By clicking at ‘settings > navigation > tracks’, you will be able to activate or deactivate ‘deviation alert’ field. In case of activation, you will need to fix a ‘deviation distance’ parameter (by default this function is fixed as ‘50 meters’). Moreover, you can also configure alarm properties such as: alarm sound (on or off), interval of alert repetition, awaken screen when alarming...

 

Track’s variable colour

At 'settings > navigation > tracks', the user is able to select in which degradation colour the track will be presented on screen. Degradation colours are related to different fields of the track: track altitudes, speed, slope, time, barometric altitude, heart rate frequency...


This feature can also be applied from track’s contextual menu.

 

Different display for active tracks

Once you are navigating a track you will see the difference between the active track and the other tracks. The active one has a different on-screen display which can be personalized by the user. Usually, the active track has a notable thickness and it is related to a different colour to make it different from the rest.

This parameters can be configured at ‘settings > navigation > tracks’, there you will be able to change the navigating track colour as well as double line’s thickness, opacity and colour.

 

 

WAYPOINTS NEW FEATURES

Customizable information at waypoints list

You can personalize which specific information will be displayed together with each waypoint at waypoints list. In order to personalize that information go at ‘Settings > System > Advanced’, once you are there, you only have select ‘Info in waypoints list’ and then choose which kind of information do you prefer to be attached to your list of waypoints:

  • Nothing (no information will be displayed)
  • By proximity (following example)
  • By height
  • A short description for each point or
  • Bearing

 

Reset active waypoints

By selecting ‘reset’ at the contextual menu of an active waypoints file (AWF), the user will delete all the waypoints of that specific active file.

 

 

MAPS NEW FEATURES

Hint function

Specific information for each clicked point on map will pop up on the screen in a yellow label showing fields with useful information.

 

This function can be personalized, or even disabled, according to the will of the user, this can be done by selecting ‘Settings > Display > Hint’. There you will be able to add or exclude data fields which later on will be displayed on maps:

  • Map info: only for vector maps like Vmaps.
  • Coordinates
  • Bearing (from current position)
  • Distance (from current position)
  • Height (if CDEM available)

 

 

2D/3D

If you want to change between 2D to 3D, or vice versa, you only have to alternate both modes at ‘Menu > Settings > Display’.

 

Map transparency

At map’s properties, the user can fix a certain amount of transparency to present on screen his raster maps. 

  

Relief colour selector

When using elevation maps there is a default palette of colours which will be displayed. Nevertheless, the user is able to select between three different hypsometric colour options for his maps: high contrast colours, low contrast colours or default palette of colours. This option can be configured by selecting ‘Settings > Display > 3D reliefs’.

 

  

GEOCACHING NEW FEATURES

Separate 'found' geocaches

At ‘Settings > Display > Geocaching’, the user will be able to show or hide geocaches at the same list where the total amount of geocaches are located.

Geocaches which have been labelled as ‘found geocache’, won’t appear in the list. By doing this, the user won’t need to see geocaches that were previously found.

 

 

VIDEOS NEW FEATURES

TwoNav plays Video!

TwoNav Aventura, Sportiva or Delta could not reproduce video since there isn’t any video player installed in Windows CE.

Now these versions of TwoNav will includes TCPMP opensource video player to allow video reproduction.

Other TwoNav softwares like Tablet, Pocket or Android will keep using the default video player of their operating systems.

Video can be reproduced directly by ‘Open...’ function, but also be associated to waypoints so it is automatically played when reaching that place.

  

Auto-Play video option

At 'settings > navigation > alarms > WPT alarm', the user will be able to enable or disable Auto-play function for attached videos by clicking at ‘Auto-play attached videos’.

 

 

MINOR CHANGES

  • Waypoints will be automatically saved each time the user leaves the application.
     
  • Tool bar will be reseted when selecting 'Default configuration'.
     
  • Maximum speed and routing speed values have been corrected when using the application in small roads. Data used to be inaccurate causing wrong estimated times.
     
  • Hint function is not shown when dragging. 
     
  • Recorded tracks are now placed at 'Tracklog' folder. 

  • File format filter has been added for alarm and associated files.
     
  • New 10 seconds option for time to shutdown screen.
     
  • Current position in graph has been improved for a clearer visibility.

  • Open Street Maps plug-in has been included to the following TwoNav platforms: Pocket, Tablet, Mac and Android.
     
  • 'Webcam' icon has been added to the list of icons: 'Webcam Cache’.
     
  • Icon size for waypoints on map have been corrected in order to be presented according to the selected UI scale.
     
  • AlerteGPS radars are included as download for iPhone/Android, so user can download this data from ‘Settings > System > Download’.

 

 

SOLVED BUGS

  • ‘Virtual coach’ function has been improved in order to correct slow time problems.
     
  • Solved a hang happening in some cases when a map was activated from CompeGPS Land
     
  • Problems with ‘Stop navigation’ while playing Virtual Coach have been solved.
  • Not showing associated files when ‘autoplay’ function is enabled have been corrected (while performing a roadbook).
     
  • Solved ‘infonext’ text problems. 
     
  • TwoNav works with tracks and waypoints in KML and KMZ formats. 
     
  • Resume track problems have been solved.
     
  • The change of a configuration parameter when default unit is not in I.S. is now working.
     
  • Solved skin color problems on graphs.
     
  • Zoom in graph is now correctly centered.
     
  • Problems to shut down TwoNav Aventura after the countdown when unplugged from Mass Storage have been solved.
     
  • Language flags appear at options menu.
